Another year, another pumpkin patch trip...

As has been our experience the last two years, the first Saturday in October is the ideal time to head to the local corn maze and pumpkin patch - not too cold yet, not too crowded and (at least for three years running) gorgeous sunshine! It was a little tricky fitting the trip in this year between Cora's morning and afternoon naps, but I'm so glad we went! Aiden and Seth were very independent in the maze this year, running ahead to find clues and being our leaders most of the way.
Only Aiden would stop for this picture...
Seth was too busy running on ahead!
"Peek-a-boo!"
Since some of the corn maze was underwater due to the heavy rains we've had this week, we were unable to get to two of the six clues we were supposed to find among the corn stalks. Thankfully, we didn't have to solve the puzzle to receive the prizes, since that was the best part for Aiden and Seth!
We have found that the pumpkins at this pumpkin patch are very overpriced... so we just stopped to take pictures, but we didn't actually buy any.
Maybe one of these years we'll be quick enough with the camera to catch all (or at least one!) of the kids while they are looking the right way!
After our attempt at pictures, we all went on a hayride around the perimeter of the corn maze.
Cora was definitely getting sleepy by then, since we were already a little past her naptime. She was a lot more content when Dan was letting her cruise around the hay bale in the middle of the wagon than when she was being held.
Aiden and Seth have always liked the pumpkin "people" at the corn maze, but Cora laughed and wanted to touch them all. She even was leaning out of Dan's arms to hug some of them! (I think she may have thought they were just another kind of doll!)
After Cora was down for her nap, the rest of us enjoyed some mini donuts and hot apple cidar. Later, the boys were playing with the prize toys they had received after we went through the maze. Aiden put his glow-in-the-dark spider ring on his left ring finger and asked me, "Mom, does this mean I'm married?" I think one of the best parts of any trip or outing is listening to the boys talk about it afterward and hearing the cute things they say!

Looks like so much fun - what a great family tradition. Cora and the pumpkin person - super cute!
