Firetruck Bliss

Yesterday evening, we ate a hurried dinner and then headed to the fire station for their annual open house. We had noticed the sign announcing the date a few weeks ago and knew the boys would be thrilled to go. We were not disappointed! There was quite a big crowd for our little town and there was lots to see. We watched the demolition of a car and got to see a scent dog at work.

Seth and Aiden both got a chance to put out a "fire"...

and we got to climb into the bucket of a ladder truck.
There was food to eat, free bike helmets, stickers to take home, goofy pictures to take...
and trucks to climb into! The kids could even take rides in one of the firetrucks, but by the time they started that, it was getting too late for our three. Hopefully we'll get to do that next year!
Even Cora had a fun time at the open house... due mostly to the fact that she wasn't strapped into her stroller, but was walking all over the place. She's been walking for about seven weeks, but has made it her preferred method for getting around just in the last week. She loves her freedom now!
Since being firefighters is one of the jobs Aiden and Seth want to have when they grow up, it was so great for them to be able to visit a fire station right in our town. I know they'll be talking about this for a long time!

Very cool! I didn't know that firehall's had open houses... I'm glad the boys were able to be there.
