Harris Hill
Last Saturday, Dan and I took Aiden and Seth and my dad (who had been visiting all week, helping us paint and do other projects around the house) to a nearby park, Harris Hill. We had yet to go there ourselves, but Dan was very interested in seeing the place, as they have glider rides there, among other things. We packed a picnic lunch and drove the ten or so minutes to the park to enjoy a few hours there.

After our lunch, we let the boys play on the playground some more and then we walked across the street to the area where there are kiddie rides. We weren't sure if Seth and Aiden were old enough for the rides, but there was no posted age minimum and we were told that it was up to our own discretion. We didn't know how they would do, but we put them on the first ride, a "train" ride, together. They loved it! They took turns ringing the bell on the train and were both signing "more" when the ride ended.
After a carousel ride (with Dan and I each holding on to one of them), they went on their final ride. This time, we sat them apart from each other so they'd each have a steering wheel to turn, and they still had a great time (although they were both looking around for their brother some of the time they were riding).
(It seemed so strange to strap our boys into these rides and then watch from the sidelines... 21 months never seemed so old as it did when I was watching them be so independent!)
There was a small ice cream stand at the park also, where the adults got treats (and the boys had tastes of all). Seth and Aiden didn't mind too much that they weren't allowed their own ice cream as they were mostly interested in the gravel around the picnic tables. (For the most part, they are happiest outside when they have rocks and sticks to play with!)
Before leaving the park, we drove a little further up the road so Dan could get some information about the glider rides. At the top of the hill, we had a beautiful view of the Big Flats valley. I can't wait to go up to Harris Hill in the fall to take pictures of the leaves changing!
